    Holocaust commemoration to take place Tuesday in New London

    New London — Enchanted Circle Theater will present a dramatic reading of "Night" by Elie Wiesel at this year's Eastern Connecticut Holocaust commemoration.

    The commemoration ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Congregation Beth El, 660 Ocean Ave.

    Enchanted Circle Theater has performed in the Smithsonian Institution, the Jewish Museum in New York City, and the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C. The group received the Commonwealth Award, Massachusetts highest honor in arts, humanities, and sciences.

    Candle lighters for this year’s commemoration are Joe Biber, Oleg Elperin, Lola Fox, Ray Gawendo, Rosa Goldblatt and Henny Simon. Prelude music will be performed by Roz Etra and Barry Weiner.

    A Statement of Concern will be delivered by the Rev. Ann Aaberg, pastor of Mystic Congregational Church.

    Special memorial candles will be distributed following the commemoration.

    The commemoration is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut, Beth Jacob Synagogue, Congregation Ahavath Achim, Congregation Ahavath Chesed, Congregation Beth El, Congregation B’nai Shalom, Congregation Brothers of Joseph, Temple Bnai Israel, and Temple Emanu-El.
