Olde Tymes Restaurant to run Norwich fireworks fundraiser

Norwich — The City Council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday to affirm Old Tymes Restaurant as the vendor for the annual rooftop fundraiser July 2 atop the city-owned Market Street parking garage to support the annual fireworks festival at Norwich Harbor.

Former vendor Harp & Dragon Pub withdrew as the food and beverage vendor because of short staffing. Since the council's previous approval specifically named the pub, the council must change the resolution.

Rodney Green, owner of Old Tymes, said the restaurant will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, soda and snacks at the event and will run a cash bar.

The rooftop event begins at 5 p.m. July 2 and will run through the fireworks display at about 9 p.m. Admission is $100 for a table for eight people or $10 for standing room.

Tickets are available at the Norwich Community Development Corp. office at 77 Main St. or online at www.norwichharborfireworks.com.

All admissions proceeds will go to the fireworks committee, and Green said he would donate about 25 percent of his gross revenues from the event to the fireworks committee.

Green said Olde Tymes also will have its vendor booth at the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park for the fireworks festival.
