What is open and what is closed for the Fourth of July holiday
Saturday is Independence Day, a state and federal holiday. Here is a list of closings for Friday and July 4.
• Federal, state and municipal offices will be closed today and tomorrow. State parks will be open.
• Post offices will be closed, although Express Mail, special deliveries and perishable items will be delivered July 4.
• Banks and credit unions will be closed. Some may close early today.
• U.S. financial markets will be closed today and tomorrow.
• The Southeast Area Transit buses are running today, but the administration office will be closed. SEAT will be closed on Saturday, no service will be provided.
• Connecticut Lottery Corp. headquarters is closed today and Saturday. Regular drawings will occur.
• Shore Line East and Metro-North trains will run on a weekend/holiday schedule.
• The Department of Motor Vehicles offices are open 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today and closed tomorrow, July 4.
