Coast Guard holds rescue demonstration
A United States Coast Guard H-60 Jayhawk helicopter retrieves a rescue swimmer as part of a demonstration of search and rescue operations with a Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium in the waters of the Thames River off the academy waterfront Monday, July 13, 2015.
The demonstrations, by both the Jayhawk out of Cape Cod and an H-65 Dolphin out of Atlantic City, were followed by a static display on the academy's lower field for the benefit of high school seniors attending the Academy Introductory Mission (AIM) Program this week. The AIM Program brings high school seniors interested in the academy in for a week of orientation to cadet life and introduction to the Coast Guard mission.
