Early music festival winds down in New London

Peter Stillman of Somerville, Mass. checks two museum reproduction, soprano Shawm woodwind horns before a rehearsal of the German Shawm Band as part of a classroom session at the Amherst Early Music Festival at Connecticut College Friday afternoon, July 22, 2016. The shawm is a predecessor to the oboe and dates back to the 12th century in Europe. This was the second week of the Amherst Early Music Festival which is the largest teaching early music festival of its kind in North America. The festival offers classes and concerts featuring Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music, and ends Sunday. (Tim Cook/The Day)
