    Groton Democrats open fall election headquarters

    Groton — The Groton Democrats will host a grand opening celebration from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 28 at their fall election headquarters at 744 Long Hill Road.

    The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

    Joseph de la Cruz, candidate for the 41st District state representative seat; Christine Conley, candidate for the 40th District state representative seat and Tim Bowles, candidate for the 18th District state Senate seat, will be present to meet voters and answer questions.

    Lawn signs, bumper stickers and campaign buttons for Hillary Clinton will be available, as well as lawn signs and literature for Democratic state and federal candidates, including U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

    The headquarters is open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and additionally from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday and Saturday.

    Volunteers are needed at these times to contact voters and on Election Day to provide rides to the polls. For questions or information on volunteering call (860) 271-9323.
