    Garde audiences are part of worldwide film fest

    Over the course of one week, in 250 cities around the world, movie lovers will watch the 10 finalists in the Manhattan Short Film Festival. And then they get to vote on which one they liked best.

    One of those 250 cities is New London.

    The Garde Arts Center is hosting a screening for the seventh time, starting at 3 p.m. Sunday. There's also a 2 p.m. dessert reception for ticket holders, which is sponsored by Secor Subaru and catered by TVCCA Nutrition Program.

    More than 800 films were submitted for the festival, and the 10 finalists are: "The Tunnel" (Norway), "Carousel" (England), "Kaputt" (Germany), "Ella Gets a Promotion?" (USA), "Hold On" (The Netherlands), "Bravoman" (Russia), "Overtime" (Australia), "Gorilla" (France), "I Am A Pencil" (Australia) and "The Last Journey of the Enigmatic Paul WR" (France).

    After the 10 finalists run, the audience can participate in a Q&A session with Nick Mason, founder of Manhattan Shorts.

    The winner will be announced at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 on ManhattanShort.com. Tickets to the Garde are $12; (860) 444-7373.
