Vets service representative to speak at TVCCA coffeehouse

Manuel Meneses, military veterans service representative for the Second Congressional District, will be returning to speak at the Thames Valley Council for Community Action’s Veterans Coffeehouse in Stonington on Oct. 27.

Meneses, a retired Navy veteran, works with veterans to secure benefits with the Veterans Administration and obtain medals after their service. He joined state Rep. Diana Urban, D-North Stonington, at the Sept. 22 coffeehouse to support the program and speak about his experience working with veterans.

“I would like to personally thank TVCCA for the tireless efforts and support of our veterans,” Meneses said in a press release. “The services they provide are crucial to helping our veterans on a daily basis.”

He will be at the 9 a.m., coffeehouse on Oct. 27.

The Veterans Coffeehouse was started by TVCCA’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) last year in Danielson and launched in Stonington this fall. It is a place for local veterans and their families to meet up and learn about available services.

The Stonington Veterans Coffeehouse meets from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at Stonington Human Services, 166 South Broad St., Pawcatuck. For more information, including volunteering or donating to the program, contact RSVP coordinator, Gina King at (860) 425-6617.
