$5.75 million raised so far for Hospice House

Norwich — The Center for Hospice Care announced Thursday that it has raised $5.75 million thus far toward its Hospice House project, and has engaged West Hartford-based MBH Architecture to develop detailed design and working drawings for the project.

Hospice said that the amount raised thus far is 76 percent of its $7.5 million goal. Among major gifts thus far are $50,000 from the Mohegan Tribal Council and $20,000 from Charter Oak Federal Credit Union.

Hospice plans to build Hospice House as part of its Norwich-based campus, on 7.5 acres of land that was donated to the organization in 2008 by Sts. Peter and Paul Church. The facility is expected to serve 700 to 800 patients annually.

“We expect that MBH will complete its work by the end of the year,” said Carol Mahier, president and chief executive officer of Center for Hospice Care. “We hope to reach our $7.5 million fund-raising goal and to break ground on Hospice House in June 2017.”
