Child and Family Agency to hold community book fair

Children in the Child & Family’s Early Childhood Development Center in Groton show off new books last year at the Charity Bookshop run by the Groton Auxiliary of Child & Family Agency.

The East Lyme Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency is holding a “Buy a Book — Help a Child” community book fair on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3-8 p.m. in the atrium of the East Lyme Public Library.

The event will include consultants from Usborne Books who will showcase a variety of fiction and non-fiction books. Local children’s authors Deb Ciofi, Nancy Shapiro, Adam Shaughnessy and Denise Fenzi will also be in attendance to discuss and autograph their books.

Adults and families are invited to attend and build a home library for children in their lives to encourage a lifelong love of reading.

All profits from the book fair will be donated to the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut to support programming. Guests also can donate books to local libraries and to Child & Family for the agency’s childcare facilities, New London Day Nursery, the Early Childhood Development Center in Groton, and the B.P. Learned Mission in New London.
