Hair cuts for cause in East Lyme

Students at East Lyme High School gather around as Natalie Wiese, 16, gets her hair cut to donate to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths hair drive, which creates wigs for chemotherapy patients, Wednesday, December 21, 2016. The effort, led by junior Hannah Scheyder, at left, is part of the school's week of charitably giving that culminates on Friday with the Holiday Extravaganza. Scheyder donated hair two years ago and decided this year to recruit her classmates as part of the week. 13 students signed-up in advance and by the time the school's lunch period was over more than 20 had donated and by the end of the day over 50 had donated. Three stylists from two local salons; Hair Trendz and Posh, volunteered their time to do the cutting and provided $25 gift certificates for the donors to put the finishing touches on their quick cuts.
