New London – Latino business leaders along with city and state officials are expected to gather for the Tuesday launch of a paid Spanish section of the New London Times called HOLA New London.

The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Garde Arts Center at 325 State St.

Brief remarks will be made by New London Mayor Michael Passero, state Rep. Chris Soto, D-New London, and state Sen. Paul Formica, R-East Lyme.

“It’s been exciting to see the HOLA New London section in the New London Times. It further illustrates the rich diversity of our city and the growing strength within the Latino business community which has helped support this initiative,” Passero said in a prepared statement.

Passero added, “With the other exciting things on the horizon in New London, this newfound energy from the Latino business community will be an essential part our city’s growth.”

The event will also feature the announcement of a Latino arm of the Eastern Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and an upcoming Small Business Academy.
