    'Blue Plan' forum, film showing planned

    Groton — An open forum about the state’s Blue Plan for Long Island Sound and premier of the film, “Ocean Frontiers III” will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 25 at in the auditorium of the Academic Building of the Avery Point campus of the University of Connecticut.

    The forum will be a chance to learn about, discuss and help shape the Blue Plan, a new state and stakeholder initiative to better guide future uses of the Sound. The plan is intended to protect the Sound’s natural resources and traditional human uses. The documentary “Ocean Frontiers III” is about recent groundbreaking efforts in ocean planning.

    Speakers at the event will include Rob Klee, commissioner of the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection; Sylvain De Guise, director of Connecticut Sea Grant; and Nathan Frohling, director of coastal and marine inititiatives for The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut.

    Admission is free. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the program starting at 7.
