Two Norwich volunteer fire departments to hold open houses Sunday
Norwich — Two local volunteer fire departments will be among 60 statewide to celebrate the start of National Volunteer Week on Sunday, with open houses and displays of firefighter equipment and firetrucks.
The East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company and the Taftville Volunteer Fire Department will host open houses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at their stations. Visitors will be able to talk with volunteer firefighters about their work, explore fire apparatuses and turnout gear, tour the fire house and fill out an application for membership at each department.
