Old Lyme association to receive drinking water merit award

The Chadwick Homeowners Association in Old Lyme will be among recipients of awards to be given on Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health in celebration of Connecticut Drinking Water Week, the health department announced Friday.

Four awards will be given at the ceremony to water service operators and water utilities around the state for “their outstanding contributions to the health and safety of the state’s drinking water,” the health department said. The Chadwick Homeowners Association is being recognized with a Small Community Public Health Drinking Water Merit Award.

In recognition of National Drinking Water Week, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has proclaimed May 7 through 13 Connecticut Drinking Water Week, encouraging residents to recognize drinking water as a precious public health resource and to help protect our water sources from pollution, to practice water conservation and to become involved in regional and local drinking water issues, the health department said.
