    Old Lyme voters approve budget

Old Lyme — Voters at a town meeting Monday approved the town's 2017-18 budget as presented, according to Board of Finance Chairman Andy Russell.

The budget is $36,355,031, or a 3.26 percent increase over the current year's budget.

The spending plan includes $9,819,829 for general government and capital, a 1.84 percent increase, and $26,535,202, a 3.79 percent increase, for Old Lyme's portion of the Lyme-Old Lyme schools' budget.

Voters approved the schools' budget at a referendum held earlier this month.

The Board of Finance set the tax rate for next year at 21.75 mills, Russell said. That represents an increase of 0.55 mill from the current rate of 21.2 mills.
