Marlene Warner, acting executive director of the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling, has been elected president of the National Council on Problem Gambling.

Warner, who is also executive director of the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling since 2011, will lead the national organization for one year. She has been acting executive director of the Connecticut organization, based in Clinton, since late last year.

She will lead all three organizations.

"Marlene is well-respected by her peers and a true leader in her work to prevent problem gambling as well as help those struggling with addiction," said Keith Whyte, NCPG executive director. "We are thrilled to work with her to strengthen our advocacy on behalf of problem gamblers and their families."

Before becoming the Massachusetts council’s executive director, Warner served as the organization’s program director for 10 years.

Also serving as an officer for the national organization is Ray Pineault, Mohegan Sun’s president and general manager, who was re-elected treasurer of the NCPG. Pineault chairs the organization’s Finance Committee and has been a member of its Development Committee for three years.
