The Ledyard Garden Club has donated $4,000 to local organizations to encourage gardening and support civic, historic, educational and beautification projects.

Recipients include community and civic gardens at the Nathan Lester House and Bill Library, holiday wreaths for town buildings, Norwich Free Academy’s Salem greenhouse project, Ledyard Libraries, Ledyard Senior Center’s indoor greenhouse, gardening books for Ledyard’s elementary schools, Ledyard High School’s agriscience program, and starter plants and seeds for The Arc’s vegetable stand on Route 117.

The club also donated 1,270 pounds of vegetables from the H.O.P.E. Garden to the Ledyard Food Pantry.

The Ledyard Garden Club provides service hours in planting and maintaining public gardens and gives scholarship to graduating Ledyard seniors pursuing education in horticulture or agriculture.
