Susan Schlachter of Old Lyme and Richard Schlachter and Anne Richards of Old Lyme are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Anne Schlachter to Lt. Colin Michael Fogarty, USCG, son of Dennis and Christy Fogarty of Kirkwood, Mo.

Sara received a bachelor’s degree in English from Providence College and a master’s degree in literature from Texas State University. She is employed by Seabury-Hill Realtors in New Haven. Colin received a bachelor’s degree in government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a juris doctor from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a judge advocate in the U.S. Coast Guard.

The couple is planning a February 2018 wedding in Key West, Fla. and will reside in Seattle, Wash.
