Chief of Police Margaret Ackley is pleased to announce that applications for enrollment in the 2011 New London Police Department Citizens Police Academy are now being accepted. Applications are available on-line at www.newlondonpolice.com and can be filled out and submitted via email or printed and mailed to the Police Department (New London Police Department - 2011 CPA 5 Governor Winthrop Blvd New London, CT 06320). The closing date for applications will be Friday, January 7, 2011. The 2011 Citizens Police Academy will be the sixth such event held by the Police Department since the mid 1990's. The 2011 version will take on a distinct Downtown New London flavor as it will be held at the First Baptist Church (268 State Street) and will include activities and outings at other Downtown locations.

The Academy will begin on Monday, February 7 and run through Monday, April 25. Each Monday session will be three hours long (6 - 9 p.m.). A wide variety of police/community topics will be discussed. Weekly attendance is strongly encouraged and somewhat required. Space is limited and priority will be given to New London residents, community activists and business owners.
