New London firefighters rescue cat from the Hygienic's roof

Firefighter Michael Passero, of the New London Fire Department, climbs a tower ladder to rescue a cat from the roof of the Hygienic Art Gallery at the corner of Bank Street and Gold Street, after all other attempts to lure the cat back into the top floor windows were exhausted without success, Thursday, July 16, 2015, in New London, CT. New London — Firefighters used a ladder truck Thursday to rescue a frightened cat who was stuck on the roof of the Hygienic Art building off Bank Street.

A crowd had gathered to watch the cat, who had snuck out of an upper floor window, as the cat’s owner tried to coax her back into his apartment.

The crowd erupted in cheers as firefighter Michael Passero, perched atop a ladder, gently led the cat into a container.

The cat’s emotional owner, Justin, was warned by the animal control officer to secure his window.
