Norwich doctor charged again with sexual assault

Norwich — A Norwich doctor first charged in May and then again in June is facing a new charge of sexual assault after another alleged victim came forward.

Dr. Manoj Saxena, 45, of Mansfield was charged Wednesday with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault.

The total of alleged victims is now at four.

In June, two victims both said they were sexually assaulted by Saxena while he was acting in his official capacity as a medical doctor for Concentra Urgent Care at 10 Connecticut Ave., Norwich.

In that case, he was charged with second-degree sexual assault and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.

Saxena was arrested May 14 in connection with a similar incident involving an 18-year-old female.

The alleged victim, who visited the clinic for a bite on the forearm from an autistic child, said Saxena asked her if she had ever had a breast exam or pelvic exam and made inappropriate comments about her anatomy. The victim works for the City of Norwich.

Without giving her a gown or leaving the room while she removed her clothing, Saxena conducted both exams without a nurse in the room, according to the arrest warrant affidavit in the case.

The alleged victim said Saxena told her she was "inspiring" and hugged her and kissed her on the forehead at the end of the exam.

He was charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault.

According to the affidavit, the City of Norwich uses Concentra Urgent Care as a treatment facility for work-related injuries.

Following his arrest Wednesday, Saxena posted a $30,000 cash bond. He already had posted $160,000 in bonds in the previous cases.

Saxena's next court date is scheduled for Aug. 19 in New London Superior Court.
