    State police investigate untimely death in Franklin

    Franklin — Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad are investigating a reported untimely death of a man who was found on the side of the road.

    Troopers from Troop K in Colchester had responded to a reported untimely death around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at the area of 796 Route 32, according to a police report.

    Medical personnel responding pronounced the man, who was located on the side of the road, as dead.

    Police shut the road between Route 207 and Pleasure Hill Road during the investigation.

    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also investigated and will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause and manner of death.

    Police are not releasing the man's name until notifying his next of kin.  

    Police describe him as a white male, about 5-foot-6-inches and 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

    He was wearing a blue tank top, greyish-blue cargo shorts, blue sneakers and a gray New Jersey Nets baseball hat.

    Detectives are asking anyone with information about the deceased, or who traveled on Route 32 in this area and may have observed the man walking within the past 24 hours, to call the Eastern District Major Crime Squad at (860) 896-3230.

    Police said all calls will be kept confidential.
