Norwich police to conduct underage alcohol sales compliance checks

Norwich — Over the next three months, police, in conjunction with Norwich Youth and Family Services and the Norwich Prevention Council, will check local liquor stores to see whether they're selling alcohol to customers under the age of 21.

During compliance checks conducted last year, police Sgt. 1st Class Peter Camp said nine of 17 licensed establishments sold alcohol to the participating minors.

"Norwich youth are our future and compliance checks are a key component in keeping them and our neighborhoods safe," Camp wrote in a news release.
