Ledyard — A man who fell from a bridge on Route 2 near Foxwoods Saturday night was intoxicated and appeared to suffer a severe hip injury, according to Ledyard police.

Daniel Powse of Woburn, Mass., was found after a caller alerted emergency services around 7:49 p.m, according to Ledyard Police Sgt. Thomas Olsen. The caller could not be located.

Powse initially said he was fine, but when medical personnel examined him they determined he had suffered some severe injuries, Olsen said.

Powse was transported to The William W. Backus Hospital by American Ambulance.
