Norwich man accused of impregnating teen

A 25-year-old Norwich man charged with fathering a baby last year with a 15-year-old girl appeared Monday in New London Superior Court.

Jonathan Anderson of 5 Sandy Lane pleaded not guilty to second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the alleged victim told police she decided to have sex with Anderson in April 2015 because she was upset with another man. She told police that Anderson was drunk at the time and probably did not remember the incident.

The girl was not old enough to consent to sex legally, since 16 is the age of consent in Connecticut. The liaison resulted in a pregnancy, and police said DNA tests confirmed that Anderson had fathered the child.

Anderson is prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim. He is due back in court on Aug. 4.
