Waterford — About 9:45 p.m. Friday firefighters responded to Bottinelli Custom Monuments, at 717 Broad St., for the report of a structure fire.

Smoke was seen coming from the top floor of the structure.

Lee Kusterer, who said he's owned the business for 30 years and lives two doors away, said he was not sure what caused the fire or where it started.

He said the building, which is just used to house the business, was unoccupied at the time.

Fire departments from Quaker Hill, New London and Waterford responded. A worker from Eversource was later seen working on power lines near the building.

No further information was immediately available.
