Montville — Police have identified the person killed in a head-on collision early Monday morning as Mike Vassilou of Bristol.

Vassilou, 60, was driving the wrong way on the northbound side of Mohegan Sun Boulevard, the main access road to the Mohegan Sun casino, at about 3:40 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from state police.

Vassilou's car, a 2002 Toyota RAV4 SUV, collided head-on with a bus that was moving north on Mohegan Sun Boulevard near the intersection with Route 2A.

Vassilou was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The bus is owned by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, according to police. Its driver, Lloyd Gentles of New London, was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, but information about his injuries were not immediately available.

Police said a passenger on the bus, Jian Chen of Woodside, N.Y., was not injured.
