New London — Police said Saturday that an employee of the Shanghai Garden Restaurant, 150 Broad St., reported being attacked and robbed in the area of Bishop Court on Friday night.

The incident was reported to police about 8:16 p.m. Friday.

According to a news release from the New London Police Department, the alleged victim, who was delivering food for the restaurant, was approached by three or four Hispanic or African-American males of various heights and builds.

The victim did not say that the males were armed, but reported being struck several times in the head and face. The victim was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

The victim reported that the food and a cellphone were taken during the incident.

City police said they canvassed the area after the reported attack and are following leads in the investigation.
