Tractor-trailer leaves roadway, hits tree off I-95 in East Lyme

East Lyme — The right lane of Interstate 95 south is closed between exits 72 and 71 after a tractor-trailer left the roadway there and knocked down a tree, according to the state Department of Transportation.

DOT traffic cameras show a car also is off the road between the two exits, and that the fallen tree is blocking a portion of the right lane.

Several emergency vehicles are on scene, and DOT officials estimate it could take up to four hours to clear everything up.

It's the second crash on I-95 in East Lyme today.

Around noon, a two-car crash on I-95 north just past Exit 74 closed the northbound side of the highway for about an hour and a half.

A Life Star helicopter responded to that crash and transported one patient to the hospital.
