North Stonington resident state trooper charged with threatening woman

North Stonington — One of the town's two resident state troopers on Saturday was arrested and charged with threatening a woman at his home, according to state police.

David F. Greene, 43, of 169 Mystic Road was charged Saturday with first-degree threatening, a Class D felony.

Police said they responded to Greene's home at 11:54 p.m. Friday after the woman reported having been threatened by Greene.

The woman stated that she and Greene had returned from an event and he had made statements that made her fear for her safety. At the time, Greene had a firearm in his possession, according to Trooper First Class Kelly Grant.

Police took Greene into custody without incident. He was arraigned Monday and is next due in New London Superior Court on Sept. 22.

Grant confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Greene has been suspended pending an Internal Affairs investigation. Grant said Greene's duty weapon was seized in accordance with state law.

First Selectman Shawn Murphy said the town has requested from Troop E a replacement for Greene for the period of his suspension.
