    Police: Groton man had guns, cocaine in area accessible to children

    Groton — A man arrested Friday had two handguns and crack cocaine in an area accessible to two small children living in the residence, according to police.

    Anthony E. Smith, 33 of 1213 Gold Star Highway, Groton, was arrested by members of the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force, after they searched his residence.

    Investigators located fentanyl and crack cocaine packaged for sale, as well as other materials related to the sale of drugs and two handguns, police said in a release issued Saturday morning.

    The guns and drugs were accessible to a 5-year-old and an infant, the release said.

    Smith was charged with possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of narcotics, possession of crack cocaine, criminal possession of a firearm and two counts risk of injury to a minor.
