    Groton Town police arrest third suspect in 99 Restaurant shooting

    Groton — Police have arrested a third person in connection with the Oct. 2 shooting of a 17-year-old in the parking lot of the 99 Restaurant on Long Hill Road.

    Timothy B. McKoy, 18, of 259 Elm St., New London, was charged by Groton Town police on Thursday while making an appearance in New London Superior Court on an unrelated charge. He is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, accessory to first-degree robbery and accessory to first-degree assault.

    McKoy was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

    Police previously had charged Cevon T. Riley, 17, with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and carrying a pistol without a permit in connection to the shooting. Renso Gonzalez, 17, of 11 Garfield Ave., New London, is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and accessory to first-degree robbery.

    The teens had planned to rob the victim when he arrived to sell them marijuana, according to a court documents. A fight broke out and Riley, who had been recruited by two others to serve as "muscle" during the robbery, pulled out a gun and shot the victim before fleeing with the others, according to the police account of the incident.

    The victim in the case was shot in the hand and abdomen, with the bullet fracturing several bones in his left hand and piercing his colon and left kidney.
