New London — Police are investigating the death of a man discovered deceased in his Green Street apartment on Wednesday.

At 12:43 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, police were contacted by a concerned citizen who said their neighbor hadn’t been seen for an extended period of time and also had noticed a strange odor coming from the neighbor’s apartment.

Police responded to 96 Green St., Apt. 2D, for a well-being check and found the deceased man inside. Police have not released the identity of the deceased man.

Police detectives are investigating the circumstance of the man's death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
