Morning tractor-trailer fire on I-95 snarls traffic in East Lyme

East Lyme — A Friday morning tractor-trailer fire left traffic throughout the town a mess.
According to the state Department of Transportation, the tractor-trailer caught fire between exits 73 and 74 shortly before 7 a.m.
The fire forced officials to close the highway between the two exits for almost 50 minutes. The right lane remained closed until about 8:30 a.m. Many side roads were still clogged at that time.
State police did not yet have information about whether there were injuries in the fire or what was in the trailer.
