New London police charge man with growing marijuana in his home

New London -- Police said a local man on probation was arrested late Sunday afternoon for growing marijuana in his home.

Paul Mitchell, 46, of 25 Ledge Road, was charged with cultivation of marijuana after police served him with a warrant at his home about 5:24 p.m. He is being held on a $2,500 bond. If he does not make bond he will be arraigned Monday in New London Superior Court.

Police said that because Mitchell was on probation he was subject to home visits by probation officers. Police said one of those visits resulted in the discovery that Mitchell was growing marijuana in an upstairs bedroom. Police seized marijuana plants along with tools and accessories used to grow them.
