More than 5 injured after Ledyard driver strikes Canterbury school bus

Canterbury — Five students reported minor injuries on Tuesday after a car crossed the center line on Route 169 in Canterbury and struck a school bus carrying 34 children, according to an accident report.

The school bus was traveling south on South Canterbury Road about 6:30 a.m. when the driver of a Cadillac traveling north on the same road lost control, crossed the center line and drove into the bus, the report said.

Crews took the Cadillac driver, Justin M. Rice, 30, of 112 Silas Deane Road, Ledyard, to The William W. Backus Hospital with suspected serious injuries.
