New London — During a recent two-week enforcement campaign, city officers said they handed out 147 seat belt citations, along with 105 infractions for other traffic violations.

Police said they also issued eight misdemeanor summonses and arrested two people on warrants during the Click It or Ticket initiative, which ran from May 22 through Sunday.

Police additionally engaged in a foot pursuit that resulted in the seizure of 11 pounds of marijuana because of their ramped-up enforcement.

In a news release, acting police Chief Peter Reichard called public education initiatives like Click It or Ticket “an effective tool to enhance safety along our roadways.”
