Norwich postal worker assists in burglary arrest

Norwich — A U.S. Postal Service worker's vigilance led to the arrest of a man suspected in a burglary Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Dwayne Sutton, 32, of 51 14th St. was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny.

Around noon Wednesday, the postal worker noticed a male walking around a residence on Washington Street and carrying a television. The postal worker, recognizing that the man did not belong at the house, notified nearby officers to investigate the area.

Officers found the front door of the house open and noted that a television was missing from the home. While officers were investigating the residence, one saw the male suspect walking away from the scene.

In addition to the television, Sutton also was found carrying jewelry that reportedly was stolen from the house, police said. He is scheduled to appear July 6 in Norwich Superior Court.
