Man charged in Groton Henny Penny robbery

Groton — Police on Thursday arrested a New London man in connection with the June 10 robbery of the Henny Penny convenience store at the corner of routes 184 and 117.

At 4:04 a.m. on June 10, police said two suspects entered the store and forcefully demanded the store clerk to open the cash register. Both suspects stole merchandise from the store and interfered with a 911 call for help, police said.

After a two-week investigation, Groton Town police detectives arrested Travis Galvin, 33, of 44 Prest St., Apt 2. He was charged with second-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an emergency call.

Galvin, who has pending threatening and disorderly conduct charges, was being held by New London police on unrelated charges at the time of his arrest.

Held in lieu of a $50,000 court set bond, Galvin is scheduled to appear Friday in New London Superior Court.

Detectives are working to identify the second suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Groton Town Detective Division at (860) 441-6716.
