    Fire displaces Groton family

Groton — A Friday night fire has left a house uninhabitable, displacing one family here.

The report of the fire in a two-family residence at 28 Atlanta Court, in the Midway Oval area, came in at 8:48 p.m. Friday, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department's Capt. Jason Pollard said Saturday. The department, along with firefighters from the sub base, Groton City, Old Mystic and Mystic departments, responded.

Two adults and one child were in the home at the time of the blaze. They evacuated on their own and there were no injuries reported, Pollard said. The Red Cross said Saturday that it was assisting the family.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. No further details were available.
