Waterford — One driver was injured, and another charged with driving under the influence, in a head-on collision Tuesday evening on Route 85.

Waterford police responded to the accident at 5:40 p.m. on Route 85 in the Cross Road area, Waterford police Sgt. Roger Reed said.  A man, the driver of one of the vehicles, was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, Reed said. Further information about that driver was unavailable.

The driver of the other car, Justina A. Myers, 31, of 207 W. Thames St., Apt. 1, Norwich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain an established lane.

Route 85 was closed in both directions for about an hour after the accident. The crash remained under investigation.
