Police: Wallingford contractor stole $122,084 from Uncasville resident
Montville — Police have charged a Wallingford contractor with stealing $122,084 from an Uncasville resident whose home was damaged in a fire.
Police said 53-year-old Neil Ranciato, owner of USA Water and Fire, took the insurance money from the Uncasville resident but then did “minimal work.”
Police said Ranciato stopped talking to the victim and hired subcontractors to do work on the property without paying them.
Ranciato is the subject of “several" similar complaints across the state, police said.
Police charged Ranciato Thursday on a warrant with first-degree larceny. Released on a $2,000 bond, he is due in Norwich Superior Court Oct. 4.
