New London — A pickup truck struck and seriously injured a female pedestrian in front of the Goodyear on Vauxhall Street Monday about 8:45 a.m., fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Rheaume said.
Rheaume said the male driver had made a sharp left from Phillips Street before striking the woman, who was carrying an empty stroller.
The truck landed on its passenger side and on the wrong side of the road against a stone wall in front of the home at 524 Vauxhall St.
Rheaume said firefighters took the woman and the driver to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Rheaume said the driver's injuries were not serious.
Police are investigating.
