Perilous highway


Interstate 95 is a fact of life on the East Coast. Drivers passing through the Northeast can barely avoid the state's 112-mile portion of I-95. Connecticut's section of the interstate is one of the most congested of any I-95 state and has one of the highest densities of exits.

A life forever changed


One of the worst I-95 crashes in the past decade occurred on the morning of Nov. 2, 2007, when a tanker driver lost control of his northbound rig and crossed into the southbound lanes near Exits 74 and 75 in East Lyme.
