Backus EMS Coordinator Fred Potter, center, and Emergency Medical Services Medical Director Kyle B. McClaine, MD, right, keep the burgers and hot dogs cookin' at the 4th annual Emergency Medical Services week cookout at Backus Hospital Wednesday. The event is sponsored by American Ambulance Service, Inc. with additional support from the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department. Mr. Potter and Dr. McClaine are the official grill chefs for this event which this year attracted more emergency personnel than ever, according to Mr. Potter. Each year the hospital salutes all of the EMS personnel in the community who respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide lifesaving measures.
