Stonington High School teacher Deidre Toole created the TLC Community Classroom, which teaches students with intellectual disabilities the work and life skills they need, while also introducing them to local employers who might hire them upon graduation. Tyler Homand, who is autistic, works with Alzheimer patients at the StoneRidge retirement community, putting them through their exercises, helping them play bingo and setting the table for dinner.
