Coast Guard cadets play "The Addams Family"

You know how Coast Guard cadets usually look so straight-arrow and together and all-American?

Not this weekend. They'll be mysterious and spooky and all together ooky - like the Addams family. Snap snap.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Cadet Music Department presents the stage musical "The Addams Family." The show isn't taken from a storyline from the 1960s TV show but rather boasts an original tale based on the Charles Addams cartoons.

So Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen for a regular young guy from an upstanding, "normal" family. How do you think that in-law meeting is going to go? You'll find out in this Broadway piece with a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

The stage performers, by the way, will be accompanied by music from members of the United States Coast Guard Band, along with some additional string players.
