    Police: Bridgeport officer shot, injured attempted robbery suspect

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut State Police say a Bridgeport police officer shot a suspect after an attempted robbery in the city.

    Police say the shooting happened Wednesday night. They say detectives had been talking to an 18-year-old suspect and a 16-year-old suspect when an altercation ensued, during which one of the officers fired at least one round and hit the 18-year-old suspect.

    The suspect was hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and wasn't injured. No city police officers were shot.

    State police are conducting a use of force investigation at the request of the State's Attorney's Office.

    Police say there is no threat to the public. No one was identified Wednesday.
