UConn women to be honored at White House on Tuesday

The road to winning a record 10th national title wasn't nearly as challenging as finding a date for the UConn women's basketball team to have an audience with President Barack Obama at the White House.

Over the last several months, both parties worked behind the scenes to try to find a date for what has become a semi-regular event for the Huskies before finally agreeing to have the visit take place on Tuesday at noon.

The scheduling process was complicated by national team commitments of Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and Kia Nurse and the WNBA schedules of Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Kiah Stokes. The arduous process had gotten to the point where coach Geno Auriemma suggested a date be picked even if all the players were not able to make it.

This will be the ninth time the program is honored at the White House. A date could not be arranged in 2000 after the Huskies won their second national title.
